Jonas Armstrong was born in Mount
Carmel Hospital, Dublin, Ireland on 1st January
1981, exactly
one
minute after midnight on New Years Day. He was reported to be the first
baby born that year His parents moved to St Annes,
Lancashire, when
Jonas was six years old. He is the eldest of three children and has two
siblings - a brother and sister, both younger. Both are rumoured to be
planning on following in their big brothers footsteps. Jonas claims to
be a typical Capricorn and he jokes that his friends have
nicknamed him 'monas' on account of his fondness for complaining. Jonas
is 6ft tall with brown hair and blue eyes.

Jonas attended Arnold School
in
Blackpool, and was a member of the highly acclaimed
drama group In Yer
Space, appearing in various plays including Not
About
Heroes and A
View From The Bridge, at festivals around the UK including
the Edinburgh Fringe.
In 2000 Jonas won a place at the Royal
Academy of
Dramatic Art.

The special skills listed on his
RADA
profile include stage combat, period dance, flamenco, accents, guitar
and tennis. Other experience includes TAPS
short films, Edinburgh
Fringe and Buxton
Fringe plus the Isle of Man Festival and the National
Student Drama Festival. His interests include football [he
supports Man
Utd], writing, playing guitar, sketching and tennis.
Jonas had a successful stage career after leaving RADA and appeared in
several plays including playing Derek Meadle in Quartermaines
Terms. It
was described by one critic as a cross between Teachers and Please Sir.
He also appeared in The
Skin of our Teeth and Rutherford
& Son.

In 2004 Jonas is reported to
have had
a minor role in the mini series Islands at War but we've not been able
to find any information relating to this. He then went on to star as
Anthony Millington in Channel 4's Teachers.
Jonas only appears in
season 4 but he made quite an impact. His co-star Tamsin
Malleson
[Penny] is the wife of Jonas' current Robin Hood co-star Keith Allen.
